Over Drive Issues 87

Whats up all? I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with a small problem. Just bought this MR2 and the OD decides when it wants to work and I am not OK with that I want to tell it when to work and when not to. The car in question is a 1987 MR2 with an AT. Engine runs great and tranny works fine except for the little OD problem. I will be driving along and over drive will kick on (RPM drops from almost 4 to 2.5,) ok cool, any where from 5-30 mins down the road and it kicks off no change in speed or terrain. most of the time it dosnt work at all. I have been trying to find a rhime or a reason or at least a pattern as to when/why it happens no luck so far. Just wondering if any one has any ideas.

One last thing any one know where I can find any type of preformance parts for this little car all I can seem to find are 90s+ :-(

I think I have finaly found out what makes it work for a bit and I think its temperature. When the motor is running warm the OD kicks on like normal so say if I was driving in town for 15 mins and shut it off to reset things and the motors nice and hot hit the freeway and boom the OD works. And as soon as it cools down the OD kicks off and dosnt work until it warms back up. Same with if I come out in the morning get in the car head to school (college) OD wont work at all even if the motor becomes warm until I shut it off and turn it on.

Any Ideas?
