For 6k, A mkII Turbo in good shape will be out of the picture. NA will be your best bet. You will have no problems finding a mkII in Cali. Seems like that's where the motherload of mkII's are located.

You guys all say that 6K for an mr2 turbo is insane and youll never find it, but without much looking ive seen 3-4 turbo's for around $6-7K all with decent miles and good paint/interior.. Whats the regular going rate for one?

I would like to see these cars. Check the 4sale section in the mr2OC forum to get a good idea and u will see that 6k is not common. The demand for mr2's has increased.

91'-92': look to spend up to 9k depending on condition, mileage, mods
93+: 8k and up

I have one

I don't know where you live, but I am selling my 92' non turbo, 5 speed. The car has almost 200K on it but it got a new engine about 60k ago. I runs great. It needs front tires and an alignment but other than that it is in pretty goot shape. I would like to get $3000 for it. Send me an e-mail if you are interested. sixpack_7@excite.com

You can definately find a '91-'92 turbo between 6k and 7k. I've seen 2 or 3 for sale RECENTLY on the MR2 board, with decent mileage (around 100k). It's definately not impossible. You just gotta keep your eyes open.

I paid $2300 for my '91 turbo w/ 128k on it. Just needed a little fixin up. But definately worth it in the long run!

Keep your eyes peeled, and if you don't mind putting a little time and money into a car, you'll probably find your options open up a little bit. Plus, you'll take a lot more pride in it when it's all said and done!

just my $0.02

Frank

Yea... just be patient. Go to MR2OC, Regional Forums, California.... check the for sale sections in Socal and Norcal (wherever your areor both depending on how far you wanna drive) and you will find some cheap stuff. I saw a '91 NA -> 3rd gen swap on sale for like $5k a while back. Just find that person that needs cash bad... and jump on it.

PS. Don't look at my sig.... I'm not THAT poor.
