a product review

guys i just got new rubber on my 2. i had to replace the very corded kumhos ( junk, absolute junk...but they came with the wheels...) that were mounted on my 17's. of course my 15's need rubber too, but i figured that with my show coming up and all, maybe i needed to have just a touch of bling on my car.
i got a set of Fuszion ZRi's. i got 205/40/WR17 for the fronts and 215/40/WR17 for the rears. i really wanted another set of Potenzas, but since i need to replace the rears of my 15's, money is a little thin...hell, they ARE a Bridgestone/Firestone venture. i figured it couldn't hurt to try them and the price was VERY good!
i only have a partial alignment done...the one technician could only get them pointed straight. he didn't even set the steering wheel straight. and they wouldn't let me sit in the car during 'cause he needed me to show him where all of the adjusters were...booo.
anywho, i really like the tires so far! the turn-in is crisp, they don't get real greasy like the kumhos. they did have a bit of 'squidge' under heavy braking at first, but then again, i had just heat cycled them and they are at full tread depth. a little adjustment on the brake bias knob settled that, though! they aren't hard as rocks, and they don't squirm or howl at me during 'spirited' driving of off-ramps. hell, they give decent launch grip (even out-accellerated a boxster s 0-65ish on saturday). so, bang for the buck factor is good! they look great. not too busy, and they don't beat you to death nor are they really a loud tire. i can actually hear the supercharger now (quieter exhaust helped too).
so tomorrow hopefully the 'good' alignment guy will be working and they alignmet will get done properly and there will be many more miles of fun!

the alignment is done and the tires seem to track better. less rolling resistance and also the car feels more 'free' if that makes any sort of sense.

Which Kumhos did you have? What kind of mileage? What kind of driving conditions?

unfortunately i had the 712 ecsta supras. i was using them for daily driving/autocross duties. after DD and 2 autocrosses, i corded one of the rears in 3 spots.
i'm sure the MX's and the V700's (new) are better than the 712's, but...

the kumhos were just plain greasy...just like the victoracers before. strangely, the 712's acted like a hot victoracer (greasy) even after only a 15 minute drive...but the tail-happiness was fun!

funny, a friend of mine offered me a brand new set of the 711's...for free. judging from my experience with the 712's (both my 17's and a pair of 15's) and another friend's experiences with the 711's, i'll not buy another set of kumhos ever again.

cool. the v700's the newer ones, i hope. there was a campaign to replace them as the first versions were problematic.

yeah, can't wait...well, maybe after this weekend...much later.
also, they look sort of look like my Potenza RE730's which were absolutely amazing in the rain.

good gawd!!! i went for a ride and brought a buddy with me...we were behind a bike (i dunno what it was, but it wasn't one of the big bikes) and then we (me and the bike) sped-up for the on-ramp...by the top of the ramp, we were doing about **mph, and i was pushing him, he was leaning heavily, then he got on it and i stayed within about 1/2 car length on him, after we got straightened-out, he looked back at me and gave me the thumbs up...these tires are nice!
