Some videos from this weekend ...

I entered the NHRA national event at Atco this weekend.

Hyde 2-stepping and shooting flames:

This is an in-car video of my 11.85 @ 119 run against Keith Loforte (3rd round qualifier):
http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/image...forte_1185.mpg
... no BPV noise going 3rd to 4th ~ nothing like a WOT shift.

This was my burnout in the 1st round of eliminations.
Hyde is getting squirrlier and squirrlier when doing burnouts ... I think I made a few people jumpy on this one
http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/image...73_burnout.mpg

Hyde's wheels do not come off the ground (I watched closely on the big TV), but notice the suspension stays unloaded for all of 1st gear. If we resolve our 2nd gear boost issues, we can keep that squat rolling down the track:

MR2bad, if you watch the tach on the 3->4 gear pull you will see that I do not get off the gas at all for that shift. The jumps crazy.

My redline is now 7500 rpms.

ishcoleobo. the first hill climb is only 3 weeks away. I will be trying to beat the SM2 course record for Weatherly that I set in the fall

BullMarket, links are now fixed.

MR2Bad, I have 2-lights where the stereo would normally be.
There is a red one that comes on when the line lock is activated.
There is a blue one that comes on when I turn OFF the temp sensor for the IC fans (that is probably what you are seeing).
I will be adding a 3rd switch and light for informing me when the 2-step is turned on.

Jeff,

I just want to wish you luck in the 2005 season. Tell Hyde to kick ass!

Tell me, is he ready for the competition or are you still tuning with each outing? The reason I ask is because of that car that passed you in the 4th video. Was that car just THAT fast or were you slowing down?

Thanks for the well wishing Kaos.

That WRX is simply that fast. That is one of the 2 fastest cars in the country in my class. That car has gone 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile. My best is 11.7.
In that video they went 10.2.

There budget is in the hundreds-of-thousands of dollars.
My budget is barely over $10/year.

I probably will nto be competitive at the NHRA events until 2006, when I have a motor built and can run 30+ psi of boost @ 500+ rwhp. Then I should be inthe 10s consistently.

Another thing to consider is my car is set up for Hill climb racing and drag racing.
If I wanted to just be a dedicated drag racer I could make changes just for that venue.
