Talking My MR2 NA vs. 01 GT V6 Tiburon on a roll

my boi and i were on our way to the mall. My boi and his grl was in his car. and me being the third wheel that day in my mr2.

Mods on the tiburon:
Injen short ram intake
Cute spanish chick on the passenger side 500HP!!!
cuban flag = 500 HP!!!! lol
(ok...im corny)

My Mister 2:
i registered it like 2 days before that so nothing good but the past owner had:
1. intake that dosen't even belong to the MR2 with electric tape around a hole on the intake....and a filthy intake filter
2. i was riding on 15" steelies
3. MR2s are just PIMP in general
4. Asian guy driving it (automatic bolt on turbo = 450hp+)
lol (ok that wasn't funny)

(i have alot of basic repairs to that car i have to do b4 a rear clip swap or anything else)

we hit a long strectch ...so we were rollin about 15-25 mph.....i guess it was a long straight away....so we both decide to gas it. i down shifted to 2nd and floored.

He has a automatic....he shifted to tiptronic and floored it. for some odd reason.....his car was in my blind spot the whole time.

i thought he'd beat me...but....he only kept up..wierd....
he was surprised that my car beat him on a roll

what you guys think? feedback would be nice on the race

Wierd you say that... I raced one of my best friends in his Tiburon GT V6 with AEM intake (but it was from a stop) in my NA with intake and no passenger seat.

monkey stomped him off the line, had him by about two cars at the very beginning... and only pulled away from there

they are more powerful, but i think the wieght/AT made the difference in the race

Auto played a big part. i raced my friends Prelude with headers and exhuast with my old civic that has a D16z in it with cold air and beat him cause he had auto.

I would definately think the auto played a small role in that.

My buddy has a tiburon V6 with only an injen intake and ran a 15.5 at the track. They are pretty quick cars.

And you have an NA right? Hmmm, hard to say. Tibs are pretty heavy, could just be sluggish on the highway, but who knows for sure till you race him from a stop!

Most cars usually take longer in 30-50 and 30-70mph runs because of their gearing. The MR2 NA gearing is so short that 30-50 is a walk in the park and 30-70mph is a breeze.

I've also done a roll on a modified 5pd Tib V6 and I easily passed it. We have the gearing to our advantage, but at a complete stop, the amount of shifting required will slow our times.
