just got my sw20. had a ? is 1st gear suppose to boost?

when i drive and i'm in 1st gear there is no boost. but in other gears i have boost is that normal? and if not what can i do to fix it or if its normal what can i do to make it boost in 1st gear. thanks

What you're probably experiencing is "turbo lag". Busy at work if anyone else could explain it.

If I had to guess it's just turbo lag, it takes a few seconds for your turbo to spool, so most of the time I'm guessing that it doesnt spool up before you get to 2nd.

Smaller turbo? other than that you'll just have to live with it I guess.

You might pull the intake off the compressor side, reach in and see if the shaft has play. Mine was actually dragging, therefore creating extra lag. All it takes is a little play, turbos are pretty close tolerance.

thanks guys for all the help. i'll check the intake to see ifs its dragging. and i shift at high rpms in 1st. in 2nd the turbo starts kicking in at 2800rpm. do all u guys experience this in 1st gear? is there anyting i can do to decrease to turbo lag?
