I'm still very new to MR2 so can you guys please me out here, what is SW20? 3S-GTE? Why does my part of my VIN number say SW22?

sw20 is turbo, sw21 is n/a. ive never heard of a sw22...how about some pics of said mr2

my friend's yellow NA also said SW22...was your car a swap? Does the title say rebuilt?

mine's a 91 Turbo, not an N/A, and no my car wasn't a swap, and the title's clean, strange...

SW20 is the chassis code.
SW21 = NA model
SW22 = turbo model

3sgte = 3s series engine
g = high flow head
t = turbo
e = fuel injected.

hmm so SW22 = NA model, but how come I have that in my VIN number?

ive never heard anyone refer to a turbo as sw22...is this a non-america thing?

If you own a turbo.... read your VIN number.

It should read something along the lines of... "JT2SW22XXXXXXXXXX"
and NA would read something like "JT2SW21XXXXXXXXXX.

SW20 is just the chassis code.... I don't think in America there is any VIN that reads SW20.... it seemed like some of the european or japanese models did have SW20 in the code... but I'm not sure if they were NA or Turbo.

That is almost perfect

But try this on for size:

SW20 is the chassis code

In the VIN #
SW20 = turbo model outside of North America
SW21 = NA model
SW22 = North America turbo model
