2nd Generation valve cover gasket problem

i've purchased one from pep boys, one from auto zone and neither of them fit right, can someone tell me what's going on????

Yea.... stop being a cheap ass and go to Toyota

Make sure when you go to Toyota that you get BOTH gaskets though. They sell an inner and outter piece.... and with the smart people they employ into some parts departments.... they may only order one for you..... it happened to me.

Or try http://partznet.com .... they carry them as well.

Yea, that happened to me too Russ.sold me the outer part and not the inner for around the spark plug access...and yea, it does seem to make a difference..and I'm a cheap bastard

^ hahaha... I knew i couldn't have been the only one. I was so pissed off when I figured it out. They do the same thing with exhaust manifold gaskets.... just for future reference.

yea, i was pissed too. they don't have shit here for MR2, so i always have to "special" order and wait 2-3 days...sometimes longer...and yea, I'm a cheap bastard....actually, I like to call it "Frugal"

ive tried every G****** one i can find and they never last more than three weeks, i have heard about liike a "cometic" gasket? i dont know if that is right or if thats even close to right, if anyone knows what that is, please tell me, supposedly they work really nice?

your valve cover gasket only lasts 3 weeks? I find the OEM one to be the best. there's not alot of pressure there. there must be some other issue causing the premature failing of the gasket. are you cleaning all the contact surfaces? overheating?
