I have a 91 mr2 NA for now..i wanna do a swap for my car (3SGTE) ok....here are my 2 questions...
1. If i get cross drilled slotted rotors for my NA...will they fit and perform just as good for my car after my swap?
2. How are the E bay rotors? I see the brembos on there also and some no name brand ones. Can you guys tell me are those rotors good quality (for the off brand ones) and also the brembo ones?
blazn... I purchased some "no name" rotors from an ebay seller... and they fit perfectly, bite like you wouldn't believe, and I have yet to experience ANY brake fade.. (I know what you're thinking... no I don't autocross, but I'd love to...but I do drive the car to it's limits when I can) I paid around $120 for front and rear shipped... they are the cross drilled \ slotted. I love them, if you want the name of the seller I purchased them from just let me know.
I bought some Napa blanks for < $20 each. I put the saving into some Porterfield R4-S pads - $80 per axle. After properly bedding the pads, the setup works great.
blazin_azn, when you say "swap", I assume you plan on getting a 2nd or 3rd gen clip, right? Just make sure that whatever rotors you get will work w/either a Turbo or NA.

The engine he puts in will have nothing to do with his brakes... just gecause you swap a turbo engine in doesn't mean you automatically get turbo brakes. The rears on 91's are the same on the turbo and NA..... but the front's are different.
well....i might get the rear clip.......(most likley) what about just gettin the motor and all the required stuff for the swap w/out the "rear clip" would that be fine
A clip and a half cut are different. Clips will basically be motor, tranny, axles, ecu, turbo, intercooler..... etc.... no body parts. A half cut will be the ass half of the car.... basically from the window back.
if i were you, id try to stay away from no name rotors unless you have heard a lot of good things about them. they may crack/warp after 1 track day. i have powerslot rotors, hawk hp plus pads, and valvoline brake fluid and this set-up has worked very well for me so far. theres no cracking or warpage yet. your brake system is something you dont want to go cheap on, as it can be the one thing to save your life. as far as a swap goes, if you plan on upping the power i would suggest trying to get turbo front brakes, as i dont know how well the n/a brake system will work when you add a lot of power.
i c....but if i get the rear clip...cause my car is red...they might get a rear clip from a white one....its gonna kinda look funky ya know? cause i wasn't gonna do anybody work for awhile...lol the swap is gonna cripple me for a awhile..lol
