Tinting T-Tops

Hey everyone, I was looking into getting my windows tinted and the guy that I was going to have do it says that you are not suppposed to tint the T-Tops because they heat up wierd and break or something. Has anyone ever heard of this before? And if its true, will my black car look wierd with tinted windows and clear T-Tops??? Opinions please.
Thanks, Scott

nope i tinted my windows, if you keep them clear and you don't have a/c like i do it's going to be a very bad summer....... i have my black mr2 tinted for about a year now it's held pretty good.

Hey, thanks for the input...I do have AC but my summers in Arizona get up to about 110 so the tinted windows are definitely a must. Plus, Im from Buffalo, New York, and they dont give you a hard time about dark windows out west like they did in Buffalo. Anyways, thanks again for the input.

thats insane, the only way that they should break that easy is if you went from an etreme heat to an extreme cold really fast, my t-tops are tinted, and here in SEK we get some really strange weather, like freezing one day to 90 the next and theyver never even shown signs of cracking

I posted a few pics of the car in the gallery, but its still in pretty rough shape. I bought it wrecked cause thats teh only way I could afford to get an mr2 and Ive been working on it for over half a year now. but the paint should be going on next weekend and after that it just has to pass inspection and all that junk. But Ill post more pictures when its done.

No, it's not an Urban Myth. They DO break on large T-tops like on Camaros. I had three tint shops tell me the same thing.

However, I'm going on four years of tinted T-tops with 15% Platinum tint. When I wanted to tint mine, I posted on the old MR2Board.com and folks in Florida and Texas replied that they had been fine with theirs.
