yeah pics are really bad sry, on the mr2oc forum a member said it was a hks td05 20g , its on my mr2 and im trying to figure out why i cant boost anymore than 2 psi
check for vauum leaks, IC hose leaks and make sure your waste gate is not stuck in the open position...if the turbo is in good condition, thats a good turbo
okay i found the problem, there are 2 nipples on the wastegate right?? , well the top one is conected to something but the bottom one isnt conected to anything!! , so what should it be conected to .. i hope this is why my car isnt boosting
They should be connected together for minimum wastegate boost..... or... you need a boost controller between those two nipples. http://twosrus.com for a manual boost controller.
a MBC is on the way , i noticed the top vaccum line on the wastegate actuator is going to the BPV , and i also noticed that the turbo housing has a nipple on it too, but its capped off , so i should conect the bottom nipple with the top nipple together?, and also , do you think by doing this i will boost more than 2 psi? because i think my wastegate is stuck open
Is it internal or external wastegate?? Sounds like an internal gate.... but I could be wrong. The top nipple on your compressor housing should be where one side of the boost controller goes.... and the bottom one would be your internal wastegate. The boost controler would go between those two.
Here is how the vac system is on a stock turbo (internal wastegate).
Compressor housing -> Wastegate actuator
Wastegate actuator -> TVSV (if this is what is plugged.... it is correct.... that will disable your factory boost controller)
The BOV can go into any positive pressure line I believe.... stock goes into a small metal pipe, in front of, and to the left of the intake plentum.
I can provide pics if you need more help. If you have an aftermarket turbo (obvoiously you do)... there will probably only be one nipple on the wastegate actuator. Make sure that TVSV is still disabled or you will have problems. If you jack the back of the car up you will see a blueish-purple harness.... unpluging that will do the job. OR there is a vacumm hose that comes out of that area.... and normally goes to the bottom nipple of the wastegate actuator.... make sure that is plugged.
EDIT: Get us a zoomed out picture from the left side of your car into the engine bay.... maybe we could see a bit more.
yeah the turbo is upgraded hks td05 20G, and the wastegate is internal, the top nipple goes to the vsv thing on the stock BPV, the bottom one is completely unplugged i tried looking for the vaccum line but i couldnt find a loose one anywhere, and i will get better detailed pics tomorow so you can see what im talking about, do you think i should plug both of those nipples together? or what, also there is a nipple on my turbo , but thats capped off , maybe that nipple off the turbo goes on the wastegate one , idk man im a total newb to mr2's , im a honda guy that just converted, thanks for you help
Connect the compressor housing to the actuator... you should get BOOOOST.
WAIIIIIIIIT.... that nipple right there in your pic that is plugged. Get a vac line... and connect that to the wastegate actuator. That should do it. I dunno what goes to your bov???? But that should connect to the actuator.
well, i conected the turbo housing nipple to the lower wastegate actuator nipple and im getting 5psi of boost in 3 4 and 5th gear , the thing is it spools up at like 4K rpm and it reaches 5psi of boost at redline, i ordered a MBC from twosrus and should be commin net week , anything else i have missed? oh and also 1 and 2nd gear i am getting no boost at all
