Question Low Idle?

Last night, my 93 MR2 turbo started idleing lower than it's normal 800 or so rpm. I read a post where someone had the same problem. I just bought the car and already ordered tune up parts. I heard about two afm screws, where exactly are these and how should I adjust them? should I clean the throttle body? Thanks!

the screws are located on the AFM where the wire plug is connected to AFM...But you shouldn't mess with the AFM screws..I would wait till after you tune her up before doing anything else. that may be the only cause of the low idle...did you order plug wires too?

as for the TB cleaner-I don't know. I had thought about doing it too, just to know that everything was was clean, but I'm not sure what effect(if any) it would have passing thru the turbo..that in tiself would probably be an interesting thread....I would try the tune up and see where that puts you before you do anything else...

Unplug the three-wire connector to the ISC, which is located under the throttle body. The idle should go up. If not, the ISC (Idle Speed Control) is gummed up.

Do NOT wash out the TB with a flush of cleaner. That procedure, although popular, is a BAD idea, as it washes the gunk down into the ISC, which is a small valve, and freezes it up once it's dry.

If removing the plug does not change the idle, you likely have a stuck ISC. To clean it, you should remove the TB and then remove the ISC from the TB with an impact driver like they use on motorcyles to remove the phillips head screws.

i had the same problem.. what i did was, i took off the tb and to find it full of grim.. so i took everything apart and cleaned it.. especially the ISC... then i put it back together, started the engine, wait for it to warm up to operating temperature then adjusted the idle.

Idles okay once warmed up?

So I changed the rotor, cap, plugs, and wires. The car drives much better, especially top end acceleration. Unfortunately, for the first minute or so I'm in the car (before it warms up), the car will still idle low. Any ideas?

I believe there should be a valve type device that suppose to keep your rpm's high on start up until engine warms up..that maybe malfunctioning

Yeah, you could do what I said in the earlier post.
