It's amazing what you can find on eBay ... (a little foreshadowing of Hyde)

I made a few eBay purchases in the last few weeks and this is just a hint at what's too come for Hyde. :evillaugh

In addition to what you see below, I will be most likely be having a custom intake manifold made by ChrisK and a larger throttlebody.. Please understand that I love my RMR intake manifold and I have been extremely please with the product. I highly recommend it.

I am going with ChrisK's next because he offers more flexibility in doing a the custom set up that I need and Ross Machine right now is extremely buzy with the primary business so doing a custom automotive pice is just not an option for them at this time.

I look forward to working with Chris on my custom set up, but this may have to wait a month or two longer than I expected since my tranny issues have set me waaaaaaaaaaay back money wise. The good news is that Jeff Herstine an I housted a brand new 93 LSD Toyota tranny into Hyde last night. (thanks CraiggieB!) I will be rebuilding the 93 LSD that was in Hyde so I have a spare.

NoShoes wanted to see a little more flow in Hyde's set up.
I'm going to see what I can do about that. Everything below is 3" diameter.

Anyway, enjoy my eBay pics below (Total: $322.47):

$185

$22

$10.50

$29.99

$29.99

$44.99 (bought a 3rd one beyond the auction of 2)

Yes this is going to be a trunk mount and it is going to be air-to-air.
Air-to-water is not NHRA legal and I would not want that extra weight and complexity.

The 2 small scoops are going onto the quarter panels to get air into the trunk.
The larger Subaru scoop will go on the trunk lid to get air out.
I am also removing the space between the tail lights to let air escape.

This will be fun ... oh yes, it will be

The trunk-lid-mounted Subura scoop will look like this:

The scoops on the side will be like this:

wow, i never thought of having side scoops pull in the air...

i had always thought it would be best (get the most air through your IC if you had the scoop facing foreward and just had it exit through the center panel of the tail lights)... but i do realize that there is a LOT of turbulance aft of the passenger compartement, making it less able to actually "scoop" air on the top of the car.

oh well, you know better than i do

im interested to see what kind of effect this has on power (maybe before and after dyno graphs? )

ooh, or another idea:

punch one (or two) holes of about a 4-5in. diameter in your rear firewall...

then just duct the air from you stock side vents through your engine bay and have them dump right in front of your IC.

maybe wrap the ducting in insulation to keep the air cooler... and itll look stock with the exception of the rear facing scoop and/or missing center panel

Facing the Subaru scoop forward would be a mistake. That area of the car is under negative air pressure ... so facing it backwards allows air to be scuked right out of the trunk. The aerodynamics of the car will actually pull the air out

Some MR2 people have routed the OEM side scoops into the trunk for a TMIC, but I rather keep that fresh air going into the engine bay.
