wheel choice

im stuck between the R1 Racing Sports GTR-10 and the Konig Holes
both are 900 with tires and free shipping, free lowering springs, both are black, which ones do you guys think would be best? if anyone is running these rims put your pics on here that would definatly help me make my choice, thanks

I'm not familiar with either rim, but if I may offer some advice on "rim & tire" deals:

1. Avoid them if the tires are all the same size. You have a MKII and you need to have staggered tire widths. Ideally, you should have staggered rim widths. I personally feel the car looks better with staggered rim diameters as well. Most of the "tire & rim" packages come with 7" wide wheels and 215s all around ... not a very safe set up for the MKII.

2. You said these packages include free lowering springs? I would be very cautious. Whose springs are they? There is a difference between lowering a car and lowering a car safely that improves performance. Also, if you are going to put in a lowering spring, you should seriously consider installing performance struts at the same time or you most likely will end up paying the labor twice.

3. Lastly, be leary of buying rims that are heavy ... you can throw great acceleration out the window if yo uget heavy rims. The good news if they are heavy, you will be going so slow that people can appreciate your cool looking rims.

well, i am going to hopefully order tires different than the ones that come on the rims, i was thinking a 215 front and a 235 rear, the lowering springs are supposedly made by a leading manufacturer in the united states, although not a name brand company, they claim to be made by the same manufacturer, if that makes sense, and the Konig Holes are supposed to be considered lightweight, i dont know much about the R-1's but thats what im hoping to find out, thanks for your imput, what do you think of Speedy Wheels lite series? i was also considering doing a 16x7 front with a 205 and a 17x8 rear with a 225 or 235? my main concern right now is something that looks good ( i know i know ) but im pretty sure that these rims are about the same in weight and trust me i will be getting offset tire widths, also as far as switching struts i planned on this as mine are getting bad anyways, thanks again

I know its been posted time and time again about the staggered tire widths, but what is the actual reason for it? More surface are for friction on the drive wheels and more room for steering in the front?

I don't know the R1s, but those Konigs are nice. They would prolly look nice on just about anything.

i agree, they are really slick wheels for many applications, and i know for a fact that they are supposed to be pretty light as well
