which ones would you say were the absolute best for the events you perform with your 2? or would you say they are pretty much the same other than name and price, i found tokico illuminas for cheap on ebay, brand new in the box too

I've driven on both. I find the KYB's to be teeth jarring compared to the Tokico's on the street, but I'd say the Tokicos are marginally better at the track. I prefer them slightly over the KYB's mainly because of the 5 way adjustability, rather than the 4 with the KYB's.
If you can find em cheap, I'd go with the Tokico's.

would you two: J&H, 4DMR2t..... recommend the KYB's for someone with lowering springs? I'm tired of replacing strut cartridges every 10k.... maybe it's time to do things right.
If you lowered your car, you should have some kind of performance strut in there.
Although there is the 4-way versus 5-way comparison, I never use the adjustability of the struts. I set them where I like them and they stay put.
From what I have experienced, it is much easier to blow out a Tokiko than the KYBs.
The KYB's are teeth-jarring IF you have them on any of the 3 stiffer settings. I keep mine on the lightest.
It's kinda hard to overlook price. The difference is price from coil-overs to struts/springs is huge.
The money you save buying struts/springs can be put to more parts, and unless you're going to be doing some serious track racing, struts and springs are more than adequate.

another thing about the struts, i am trying to get rid of the understeer that my car has, does one of these struts seem to be better than the other on this note?
