Quick oil questing

91 MR2 Turbo. 62xxx miles on it. Took it in to the shop I work at and had them change the oil because I was tired of doing it myself, and wanted to sit in the air conditioning. They tossed in Mobil1 synthetic 10w30. Checked the manual, seems 10w30 is cool, but what about the synthetic. I was running normal dyno-oil. Is switching to Synthetic going to make it leak, or am I cool with just using synthetic from now on. And I will switch to 10w40 on the next.

There was a topic on this a few weeks ago. We decided that the mobil one synthetic will make your car leak, but Jeff said he uses castrol syntec ( i think ) and he swears by it. Im was getting the picture that synthetic is good, unless its the mobil one. mobil one im sure is good, but it made my rx7 spring a few leaks.

I have 147K on my 91turbo. I switched to synthetic oil-Pennzoil or mobile 1 and no problems in almost 2 yrs I've had the car...

mostly has to do with whether or not u have good gaskets. cuz if you dont then there is a very good chance u will start leaking
