Installed FCD

So I installed the "black box FCD" today, and have not tuned it at all yet. Everything else is stock, I am just preparing for my boost controller. I drove the car around to make sure the car was running right, and the stock boost gauge is pegging out about 2/3 up the gauge. This is normal because the boost sensors output is being modified right?

Your stock boost gauge is a worthless piece of equipment. Changing the signal will most likely effect the boost gauge.... if you need to disabel fuel cut.... this means you are boosting more.... which means you need an aftermarket gauge anyways.

Hmm, in theory, I'd say you'd be correct. If the signal is being modified, I'd say the stock gauge would read less than normal, but I seam to remember mine still going straight to the top, and I was using the same "black box" FCD. I later got rid of it and just plugged the hose, thus eliminating fuel cut all together. Now, my stock gauge doesn't function at all.

I'd say hook up an aftermarket gauge, just to be sure. The stock one is pretty useless anyways. And if you're going to up the boost (which is why, I assume, you put in a FCD), you'll need one anyways.

If your car seems to be running normal, I wouldn't worry too much about it. But you're gonna have to up the boost to test your FCD anyways.

Good luck, and have fun!

I used the "black box fcd" off the mrcontrols website, you use a voltage splitter to modify the ecu signal that (stock) makes fuel cut at 12 psi. I connected it to the factory pressure sensor. So no hoses had to be plugged. I just havent tuned it yet

That's correct, but you can also just completly eliminate fuel cut by plugging the hose to the boost pressure sensor.
