TRUST me.... go for the 3sgte swap.... it's EASIER... FASTER... LESS HEADACHE.... MORE POWER OPTIONS.... did I mention easier? oh... and it will most likely COST LESS.... unless you go the "half-assed" route to turbo your 5sfe. (<-- no offense to the back-yard turbo freaks) what I meant by the half-assed route was... simply straapping on the turbo and hoping for the best....
your 5sfe is going to need stronger-low compression pistons, and wrist pins..... you'll most likely want a thicker 3-layer steel head gasket to lower the compression even more..... the 5sfe head isn't designed for maximum flow, mainly economical reliability..... but it will work. you're gonna need a tapped oil pan for the oil return line from the turbo... (you can also us a 3sgte's oil pan) you'll need to route an oil supply line to the turbo.... as well as coolant lines.... you're definately going to need fuel upgrades if you want any serious power..... 7mge N\A supra fuel injectors.... along with a walbro high-flow fuel pump.... possibly a dual fed fuel rail (I'm still working on that one).... you'll need the 3sgte exhaust manifold... unless you have a custom turbo\manifold.... some sort of air\fuel management.... I'm prepping my Apexi SAFC-II ... maybe that'll help!! and don't forget about your timing.... might want to invest in a MSD BTM (boost timing master) it basically retards the timing if there is any sign of detonation...
let's see.... probobly gonna need a feul pressure regulator... definately going to need an intercooler... fans.... plumbing... bpv, or bov.... custom exhaust\intake....

go for the 3sgte, I've been planning my 5sfte build for A WHILE now, and I havn't even begun assembly on the block... I'm STILL sourcing little odds and ends.. I'm almost there though...
If I could sell everything I've collected and had the option to buy a 3sgte.. done deal... 3sgte all the way.
but don't let me discourage you... if this thing I'm building ever runs properly... it's gonna be a beast

In my opinion, do the swap... That's what I've been planning ... I've not looked into turboing the 5sfe of how hard/easy it'll be, but of the looks of it... The swap's going to be cheaper?

In your place i'd go for the swap. You probably know the head type designations on engine codes. FE and GE. Fisrt one is economy/efficency head, second one is Performance head. Also, the 5SFE is a weak weak engine.
