'91 MR2 Engine Swap Q's
I don't own a MR2, nor do I even own a Toyota. This question is for my friend who does. He has a 91 NA mr2. He blew the engine due too coolant issues. My question is this. I have located him a JDM 3sgte for 1400 USD. It comes with tranny, complete engine, turbo, piping, wtc. It MAY come with ECU and wiring harness (if not whole, cut). I was wondering what I could do in order to complete this swap. Where can I get a JDM ecu and wiring harness. How easy is the swap ( I have done research and heard from some sources that it is pretty straight forward and the motor mounts on the stock 5sfe mounts. I would also like to know what I would need for the swap. And if you all recommend that I go with an aftermarket ECU and if so, which one. Can I use the stock wiring harness, or do I have to get a JDM one and will the JDM harness just plug and play with the car's stock setup. I have done some research and came to the conclusion that their is to many opposing posts online that contradict each other. Some people can't even agree on base hp specs. So any help from someone who can assist me and who has possibly done this swap is appreciated. I have pulled engines and installed but they where 1 for 1 stock for stock. Oh yeah he doesn't care about emmisions, etc. At the extreme this will be his track car. Thanks again
