Hi, I was in an accident last week and the insurance company is calling the car a write off. Basically they are giving me the oppurtunity to keep the car as is for $900 or they will just sell it to a salvage company.
My question is if I kept the car would I be able to part out the rest of it and make some profit or is it just not worth the time?
Would it be best to part the car or sell it as a whole?
The car only has 93,xxx miles on it and the pictures shown are the only thing wrong with the car, oil changed every 3000 miles and this is the first accident its been in.
have a qualified autoshop look at the damages and what it would take to repair....was there any suspension damage...is the frame bent???.....if not..then its mainly just cosmetic fixes that can be easily done....
That looks very repairable. Unless the uni-body is severely twisted, you can fix that without extreme cost. A small amount of "frame" twist can usually be repaired on a frame machine.
Remember that although the insurance company thinks that your car is worth only $4k or so, the market brings at least 50% more than that. In other words, your car is probably worth fixing.

Yes, it's an N/A. It IS a 3.0 liter V6 though. Does that matter?
I bought my 2 from a salvage auction but it was not in that bad of shape. It cost me about 2000 to get it on the road, but took about 8 months (tonight was maiden voyage). But anyways, I dont think it is worth it to fix, but there are still a ton of parts on your car that are worth quite a bit. I think you could easily make some cash by parting it out. I know I bought my front clip for 750 and it was not in very good shape. Let us know what you end up deciding.
is it a turbo or na?? manual or auto? with that kind of mileage... I'd say buy it, and part it out. ESPECIALLY if it's a turbo. If you weren't in WA... I'd buy it from you... but I'm way down in Tennessee.
from the looks of it, it's repairable... but if that's not your choice then I say part out the car, if that's what you decide to do pm me... I need some stuff
The car is auto and n/a .. My stepdad took the car to a autobody shop and they told him that they wouldnt be able to give an accurate estimate without taking off the fenders hood and others stuff. As far as suspension the passanger side wheel has positive camber and the steering wheel is far to the left. I paid 5k for the car and the insurance company is willing to give me 6200 for it - $1000 deductable, so if I were to give them the car id be geting 5200 for a new car.
You could part that out for at least $900. Parting a car is a lot of work though ... so realistically, you would need to make back your $900 + your time in parting/selling/shipping.
