Radiator Fans question

Since ive owned my car (6 weeks) my radiator fans have never come on. when i was testing fuses i took the wiper fuse out and turned the ignition and my fans came on (baffled as to why that is but anyway). my question is: are mr2 fans supposed to stay on all the time or only when the car runs too hot? i currently have no heating problems other than the damn hot cabin. thanks.

Mine come on and off. Are you sure the heat problem isn't just the fact that you live in the bahamas??? Radiator fans aren't going to effect the inside temp of your car though

I'd say..... it's better they are running than not. Don't fix what is working BETTER than it should be

i think u misunderstood me. i was just wondering if yer fans are supposed to stay on all the time or if they come on if your car starts to run too hot. i mean yeah the bahamas is hot and contributes to the blistering heat. but i am sure the motor placement does have an effect in the cabin. like if i am driving at night and its really cool. if i boost it for a while it gets quite humid in the cabin. engine temps stay normal. its a wierd GTS man lol. lol i only ask the question about if the fans stay on or off because all of my previous car's electric fans always stayed on.

The radiator fans have two speeds, low and high.

With the A/C on, the fans will run at low speed (if you have working A/C). You won't likely be able to hear the fans at this speed unless you put your head right down in front of the car.

The fans will run at high speed if the engine gets too hot, but yours doesn't do that it seems.

You can test the high speed by unplugging the temp sensor on the radiator. It's located on the right side of the car on the back side of the radiator. (It's got an annoying locking clip, BTW.) You just have to jack up the car and slide under the right front to get to it. Leave the key ON, then unplug the connector. Keep your hands away from the fans!

Fans are going to turn on and off depending on the heat of the cooling system. Like at idle, they are going to come on and off periodically.

Indeed. I should have added that they will come on at low speed if the radiator outlet temp is a "little" high, but will come on at high speed if the temp is even higher. (There are two temperature specs that are both close to 200 degrees F, and about 10 degrees apart, but the exact values aren't worth me going out the garage to get my BGB and look them up.)
