MR2 MK1 Brake Change - Help!

Ok i THINK ive screwed up....

Bought complete set of new discs for an MR2 (MK1) im restoring.
I'm not a car whiz but i got the car for free and its something i'd like to get in to.

Started ok...got the wheels off with out too much hassle, central nut and caliper all came off with out too much effort...removed the pads and disc and then placed the new disc on....DOH

Problem...the disc is much wider...something i completely paid no attention to like an idiot. Problem is that theres a guide the disc fits in to, this guide is too narrow for the discs to fit in.

Question....Am i screwed? Is there any way a wider guide can be bought? Or do i have to buy a new thinner set of discs and keep these beasts as 4 very expensive paper weights?

Thanks in advance

Danny

You probably bought the wrong ones. '85 MR2s have smaller discs than later versions. Depends on what year/month you have. Simple thing would be comparing the ones you got with the old ones you took out. See the differences.

85/86 are the same....... i think only the rear changed on the 87+...... the pads are the same in an 87 in the front that i know of

you need to push the caliper piston back in.... your old pads were worn and were much thinner because of this.....

Thanks for the replies, i was trying to put the front discs on the back wheels

How loose are the pads meant to be in the slider? Just mine seem quite tight!
Thanks
