Is this a possible MR2 engine/tranny swap?

I'm just wondering whether this engine/tranny swap is within the realm of possibility without very complicated modification. My idea was to put and Toyota Supra 2JZ-GTE engine with a 6 speed tranny into a little 1st or 2nd gen MR2. Call me crazy but I think that would be sweet

Anyway if you think this is possible please let me know, I still have to talk to my resident Toyota expert but if this is a rediculous idea feel free to call me and idiot and say "dude wtf were you thinking posting about this."

Just let me know guys, k thanx.

Oh forgot one thing, if you know of any other good engine swaps for and 1st or 2nd gen MR2 please bring them to my attention

northstar 32 valve V8

almost any V6 you care to throw in there

the problem with a 2jz swap in an MR2 is that it is a longitudinal engine, not transverse. youd have a hell of a time widening the mr2 enough to fit that straight 6 sideways in it...

The swap is possible with mayor chassis mods and a great deal of custom fabricated parts. I personally would not do this type of swap. I'd rather bring the 4ag to Formula Atlantic Specs, that would be even more rare than what you want to do. Depends on what your looking for. Power or Originallity, or both.

Don't go for an F head. If you don't want to go for the 3sgte, I would suggest the K20 (Found in the Acura RSX). That is the latest VTEC engine and it is a transverse configuration. It would be original and would smoke almost anything on the street. But its the same thing as the Northstar MR2, you give up Toyota, and thats a terrible thing to do. If you want to go full on Toyota, an interesting swap would be the Celica GTS engine (2000-2005).
