MR2 questions

My fiance drives a 97 Avalon that her family gave her, but she wants something much sportier. We've been looking at the 2nd generation MR2, and have liked what we've seen. But we're wondering, I'm 6'2", will I be able to fit in it/drive it? Also, how much maintenance do they require? I'm obsessed with 80's Toyota Vans, and have done extensive work on them, but since their engine uses a timing chain, I've never had to worry about that. Is the MR2 timing belt doable for a DIY, and how often does it need changing? Any words/general thoughts about the 91-95 MR2 are MUCH appreciated.

Thanks

You will fit fine. They are actually pretty roomy. I am 6'1" and have more room in my mr2 than i do in my supra. I dont think timing belts are a huge issue.... but it will have to be changed just like any other car utilizing a timing belt. You should be fine working on it.... but it will be much different that your vans. Hope you purchase one.... good luck

Manufacturer recommends timing belt be changed around 75k miles.. but most go a little longer...as far as maintainance, I don't think they need any more than a any other car... I guess it just depends on how you drive it and how the previous owner took care of it..
