Clutch question

The car is a gen 2 with a 3SGE motor. I know it's lacking in power but when I was at the track I decided to have a go at smoking the rear tires up. So 7000rpm, 1st gear, drop clutch....... but nothing happening with the rear wheel. I was smoking the clutch instead.

I was thinking the clutch needs replacing but when driving on the circuit and on a daily basis, the clutch seems fine. Absolutly no sign of slipping.

Is the clutch worn? Or is it just cheap clutch inside? Could it be something else?

Clutches can only hold so much torque and as they wear that amount gets lesser and lesser.

Chances are you clutch either can't hold the torque for a 7000 rpm clutch-dump or your clutch is starting to ever so slightly that it no longer can hold that much torque.

Apparently the other driving you do is well below what the clutch can hold (still hold) so you are not having problems there.

Yes, you can piss off a clutch.

In all reality you should not, but you can.
A healthy clutch should not get "too hot" to hold torque, but a clutch that is wearing can.

Keep in mind the difference between a clutch and a brake.
Brakes work because they change kinetic engery (moving stuff) into heat.
There is a limit to how much heat they can absorb and vent.

A clutches job is to trasnfer kinetic energy from one place to the nextso "heat" should not be part of the equation.

Too much torque exceeds clutch specs... Or, the problem is between the wheel and the seat . Try a lower RPM.
