1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo - What is considered bad, good, excellent engine compression?

I am curious, I am looking at possibly buying a Toyota MR2 Turbo and possibly a non turbo but I have heard there are differences in Engine Compression and not sure what a good used engine should have or not.

So, anybody on here know what excellent, good, bad compression is. Or, what was the compression of the 3sgte motor new?

I appreciate your help! Thanks.

The 3SGTE (turbo engine) you want to see about 164 across the board.
I would not get too hung up on the actual numbers, but be more concerned with how close the cylinders are too each other. I would be concerned if you had a cylinder (or two) that were significantly lower than the rest.
