There isn't realy any difference in the Gen IIs, so why bother with a JDM engine?

The ecu is different, but not cosmetically... the only way to tell is to hook it up to a dyno and get a stock pony run, then compare that to the US spec stock power.

Or, just trust the guy thats doing your swap

fortunatly im the guy doing my swap, and the reason i went jdm is because i dont have a local supplier for the 3sgte and i dont have the money for a new engine or to rebuild mine. will i notice any power difference between usdm and jdm if i use my ecu, i have to use my ecu

the usdm (or jem, i dont know which it actually is but it doesnt really matter for this discussion) engine's ecu is tuned differently than the jdm one.

the jdm ecu upped the boost i think two psi and tuned at that boost level, if you use the us-spec ecu, you will loose 25 hp to the flywheel, or maybe about 10-15 to the wheels (nothing a boost controller cant fix )

The JDM ECU is more aggressive because they have a higher octane fuels and can use the more agrgressive A/Fs & timing. That is not something that will change with a boost controller.

I'm not sure the actual boost levels were different on the Gen IIs.
I know the Gen IIIs offered more boost.
