Gen1 who has a 20v 4age

so i am kinda new in the relm of toyotas and i recently bought an '89 mr2 and was told that i could put a 20v 4age in it, which would be sick! the only problem (as you may know,) is that these engines are far and few between on the west coast. a good shove in the right direction would be much appreciated or perhaps even ...an engine! also if anyone else has done a swap like that and has any tips or advice for me, dont hesitate, educate! -later

are you kidding?!?!? you west coasters get everything there. anyway, i wouldn't really recommend the 20V just due to complexity. you'd be better-off just doing the 4AGZ-E swap. the 20V is great at high revs, but honestly, i don't see them as auspicious of a swap as people make them out ot be. aamof a friend of mine just blew one up. he considered going 4AGZ-E, but decided last minute to go 20V in his AE86. well, after the months it took him to get the wiring right, he eventually blew it up due to having so many issues with fueling and such.

id go 20v, id prefer a newer engine :P

maybe ya friend shouldv fixed his problems instead of drove with them.

teh 20v will cost more (maybe a total of 50-80% more) then the gze but it all depends on ya end result that you want... old and fast or new and smooth.

i must be looking in the wrong places then. i have looked online in ebay and stuff like that and all of the ones ive found where from engine shops on the east coast. i guess i will try some of the shops around here. the 4agz-e is even harder to find though, isnt it? i live near seattle and i have only seen one of them since i have been interested in them.

no, the 4AGZ-E isn't that hard to come-by...just have to look. try www.jarcoinc.com, or venus ( i think?!?!) is one i've heard people try or makoto. i don't know, but there are plenty of engine suppliers.
