The factory turbo on the MR2 has an internal wastegate that is controlled by an actuator. What you are seeing with 2 ports is NOT the wastegate. It is the wastegate actuator.

The "dual port" set up is for people running external wastegates.

What does "shimming" a wastegate do for you?
I have never heard of anyone in an MR2 doing this.

heh i guess not then... "shimming" it is basically taking like a total of four washer and undoing the 2 bolts to the actuator and putting the 2 washers per bolt and bolting back down. its a cheap and semi safe way of gaining some boost. reason i say semi is bc some ppl have run it like tht for a couple yrs and their wasegates and wastegate diapghram stay fine. depends on health of turbo and wastegate. i was just curious if anyone had tried it on a mr2 ct26. u prolly gain about 2 psi.

on my camry - we had to move the WGA to clear the mani and block, so now my WG actually is "set" to 5psi... it is kinda cool for a 5s turbo - since it makes it safer for daily driving boost, and then the greddy profec can be set higher if desired

^awesome that you managed that. i totaled mine b4 i could do a swap or attempt turbo. what all did you do. and its not completely unsafe unless ur puttin like more than a reasonable amount of washers per bolt. like 3 would be the most id go. heh but considering the responses ill assume my answer was no that noone has tried it on a mr2 lol.
