Howdy again. Kinda curious what you guys think about insurence on a 95 turbo MRII.
Compared to other vehicles do you think it normally runs high, low or what?
I know my driving record is not great, I have two speeding tickete and I am only 20 years old.
What I wanted to know was compared to your other vehicles how high is the MR2?
let's see-20yrs old, 2 speeding tickets, MR2 Turbo= Cha Ching! $$$$..My guess? $250.00-$300.00/mo....but that just a guess. My step son @19 had 3 speeding tickets, a '90 Cutless Supreme(V6)=$480.00/mo....!!!
Well, aside from your age and amount of tickets, there is also a number that has nothing to do with the driver, called the IRG (0-75) which every car is assigned; it's based on certain characteristics like vehicle safety/crash test ratings, likelihood of it being stolen, horsepower (of course anything turbo will be higher), and several other specifics. Regular cars, and by regular I mean something under 80k i guess, are usually around the 15-35 range. Mine is an 18 I believe. The highest I've seen was a 54
Anyway- if you want an idea let me know... tomorrow at work I can look at someone's policy in your same age/rating group and run a quick quote for a 95 MR2 turbo, that way you'll have a basic idea.....
Whoa man, that would be sweet.
I guess that is what I meant. Not the fact that mine will be higher. I knew that. But what does the car rate as?
But I would be looking for just liability. I am saving and plan on paying it off in cash.
Got theee grand right now and plan on getting in in about 3-5 months. That is if I find one that suits me.
Thanks again for the offer, that would be really nice to know.
well, if you lived in south fl you would be paying about $1455 every 6 months (approx. 250 a month), which is just an estimate, obviously... it doesn't account for things on your driving record you may not have mentioned because i have no way to access it.. but anyway..
this is what i quoted:
male, 20 yrs old, with a ticket surcharge
1995 Toyota MR2 Turbo T-Bar 2DR CPE....IRG = 21
with only Liability, Prop. Damage, and PIP (personal injury) which is mandatory here...
once again, i dont know how things work in AZ, but it can't be too different.
^^thats odd u don't have access to driving abstracts....i have a friend that sells car insurance and all he needs is your driver's license number and wham....he can access the ministry of transportation records....
Well yeah, if i had his name and DL I could get a lot more info.We can't really get in-depth driving records of people in other states with the system we have here, so it wouldn't be completely accurate. But I do have my own ways to access those sort of things. It may be different in Canada, though. Not sure...
Hey trace, can you say what company you work for?
Also, when I get the car I will be in DeLand Florida, so I think the quoate is pretty acurate.
I only have two things that should be on my record, and that is on speeding at 7 over, (Bad Cop with attitude @ 4am) and one criminal speeding ticket. (One Bad day) 93 in a 65 if that helps. Stupid Dakota of mine felt really smooth at that speed and music was loud. Bad case of I knew I was speeding but did not know I was going quite that fast.
I had one ticket where I slid off of a road when my brakes locked up and they came out the next night measured it and said I was speeding. But I took school for that and it should be clean.
Thanks for the quote. Seems a little high for liability, but I knew it would be bad. I was financing a truck and paid only a little more than that.
At least on my CB750F all I pay is $112 per year. And it goes 0-60 in like 5 flat.
I am paying likie $1,600 a year for the MR2 and the Supra. My insurance actually dropped from $250 a month to 170 a month when I added the MR2 back on. Two car discount
