2nd Generation What year is my car?!?!!!

Hey...this is gonna sound really dumb but can someone out there please straighten this out for me! I have a 1992 MR2 turbo but it was made at the end of 1991 according to the info on the car. I need to do brakes and pads and heard that I need the ones off a 91 and that the ones on a 92 wouldn't fit. Can someone please HELP me....Thanks

The breaks didn't change until '93. You want to get the ones for the 91.

I don't know the code toyota uses for their VIN numbers, but shouldn't that tell you? Anyone know what the parts of the VIN numbers on the MR2's stand for?

The guy already knows what year car he has. He just wasn't sure with what break setup to order because most sites on the internet talk out of their asses.

brakes were "93" spec in 12/01...

pureadrenaline's car's a '92 built 12/91 and it came with the bigger brakes from the factory.

suggest you check with toyota or measure your brakes... easiest way is to measure the rotor thickness. but brakes do visually look bigger. we have JDM cars so you guys may have got the little brakes for longer... after all you kept getting the old engine.
