^^i would go and get a quote....17 and good record will still get you raped by insurance companies.....expect a really high rate....its just standard practice for young drivers to pay thru the roof to drive a sports car or any car for that fact....

I would guess the MR2's symbol would be a little higher than the Supra's. Meaning if the 2 had the exact same coverage by the same driver, the MR2 would be a little more expensive.

I'd say mainly because it's a 2 seater, and because of its rarity (more expensive to replace parts).

But I'm no insurance salesman. Check out some online insurance quotes, like Geico or something. That should give you a good idea.

Youre in cali and you only pay $1650/yr?
Wow, I hate new york.
I pay ~$2.5k for my 1990 Corolla Sedan.

Anywho, the two will be slightly more expensive to insure than the Supra, but in my experience its usually not by much. The reason that the Supra is more expensive now than it used to be (when I say "now" I mean post Mk4 release) is because the insurance companies know about the Mk4 and they know what peopel do with them. Go very fast. And when people crash them (and they do) it costs alot of money.
The insurance company figures "a Supra is a Supra" even though the Mk3 is significantly rarer than the Mk4 and have raised the rates of the Mk3, comparitively.

As 4D said, IM no insurance salesman, so I would't put money on what Ive said here =P But I've known people with lots of different cars and one of my points of interst is how much people pay to insure their passion.
It always throws people off when my first question about their car is how much they pay for insurance and that I never ask what their quartermile time is =P

If you can spare some time and elbow grease, you can save yourself a lot of cash by getting an NA and dropping the GTE in yourself.
Not only will the total cost be less, but the insurance will be significantly less.
And the best part of all is that you can get a cheap '91 NA (which will save you both money and weight) and drop a 3+g 3S-GTE in so that you get not only a few more horses at better revs but also the better tranny with the all-important LSD.

I'll be 23 years old come Oct. 28th. I have a policy that insures a 93 Toyota Paseo and a 92 Toyota MR2 Turbo. They are both under a liability plan. I have a clean driving and criminal record. I also have zero credit history. With this said, I pay $150.00 a month for 9 months with 3 months off. That comes to about $100 a month if I was on the 12 month plan. Alot of the other places quoted me at about $255 a month on a 12 month plan.

I don't know how much it will run you, but if you think it is too much, than keep looking until you find a company that will reward you for your clean driving record.
