WHeels for 1st gen help...noob.

I have searched around for a good forum and this one looks to be the most knowledgable. This is my first post here so hi.

My father-in-law recently bought a '87 MR2; it has 150k but is very clean. It has some ugly aftermarket wheels for now but would like to upgrade to a current size/wheel. I have tried finding info on the stock wheel and what size I can go.

The stockers are 14 inchers with a 4x100 +40mm right? Has anyone gone with anything other than stock. THe car needs a 15 inch wheel at least, if we can go bigger great, more options.

Give me your knowledge, thanks.

i've used 15 x 7 w/ 36mm offset
and 17 x 7 42mm offset

with the 17's i get a slight scrub under heavy suspension modulation.

the stock 2003+ MkIII wheels are 15" up front and 16" around back.

I have 16x7"... but I don't know the offset. 4x100 is right.

16x7, 205/40 all around or 225/40 rear, ET 37* - 42
17x7, 205/40 all around or 215/40r, ET 37* - 42

On one of my mr2s i had some 17" wheels on it. They really did look good. The only modification I did was cut some of the plastic under the fenderwell out. So when I turn it wouldn't scrap or anything.
