If you are talking about the MKII MR2 from 93-99 and you are talking about a stock set up, there is a tranny code on the door that will tell you if the car came with LSD. The 91/92 MR2s did NOT have LSD as an option.

You can also tell by taking out the axles and peeking through.
If the hole is completely round and unobstructed, there is no LSD.
If there is LSD, there will be a a piece going across the hole.

As for driving, the only way you would tell is by putting down some healthy power coming out of a turn, up hill would even be better. I would recommend a right-hander.
If you get on it while turning and you spin the hell out of the passenger side rear tire only, you most likely do not have LSD.

I've heard a couple people suggest another method of determining if the tranny is LSD or not.

Put 1 rear tire into some slippery material (ie: dirt, sand, snow), and the other on the pavement. Put down enough power to spin the tires, and if you leave a tire track on the pavement, you hae LSD.

Or you could have somebody just watch the tire on the pavement to see if it spins.

Again, I just heard this. Don't know if it would actually work or not. I've also heard that a non-LSD tranny will spin both wheels on a level surface, so maybe somebody can help out with this one.

thanks for repling..i was always told the if u see a pin going across the hole it means that is doesnt have LSD..but if there isnt one, the it has LSD.

just the opposite. If you see the rod going through the hole, it is LSD. If you don't see the rod, it is an open differential.
