my 88 sc mr2 will not go into 3rd gear. When i try, it just makes a grinding sound. Does anyone know if it's just the syncros? Does anyone know if a tranny out of a N/A aw11 mr2 will fit up with the sc mr2. If you have any advise it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......

Ya, sounds like a worn synchro blocking ring. If you keep grinding it like that you'll damage the speed gear. Try using GM sychromesh tranny fluid and see if it eliminates some of the grinding. It wont fix a worn blocking ring but is a very cheap alternative. Of course, check the drained tranny fluid for signs of brass flakes. Synchro blocking rings are brass.
