I currently have a 88 supercharged mr2 and now thinking of selling and getting a turbo mr2 (91+). If i decide to sell what do you think is a good price? The 2 runs and looks great and has a lot of new parts like: starter, alternator, 15" wheels, sound system, ball joints, a remote start alarm and a awesome magnaflow exhaust system. It has 172,xxx miles on it. I really like the sw20 mr2 and know they can be very fast. Do you think it's a good idea selling something so rare and buying a sw20?
for some guys, they have to have a car to carry their non-existent "A" game. some of us have the "A" game regardless of our cars...hence the 'penis car'...

It depends on how far you want to go with mods in the future.
If you plan on spending $15k+ over the life of the car, then go with the SW20.
It has more end potential than the AW11.
However, if you really only plan on keeping the car for a few more years and dont ever plan on going past the low 13s, then your best is to keep the MkI and start raising the boost on the supercharger as well as considering real engine mods like lightweight internals and such.
PS: I know that F&F made everyone think that to be fast you have to be doing the quartermile in ten seconds but a low 13 second car is pretty damn fast in the real world. But having said that, if you really need to go lower (and trust me when I say that an 11 second car is blisteringly fast... were talking Ferarri fast) just take a look at Hyde. That car isn't even a super radical mod car, but it's putting down some serious speed.
I think i decided to keep it. I like the sound of no car payments and and dump some serious cash into. Fist probably the pulley to raise the boost then i'll get the trd header. Some cames sound good and a port and polish on the head and that most likely should be a high 13 (hopefully) I already ran a 14.9 basically stock everything.
save your money from the header and do things like the coupler hoses, improved IC (or at least the IC fan) and a GOOD, thourough tune-up. port and polish is useless on a 4AGZ-E. if nothing else, a nice port match job on the exhuast side (only) is worth 'some' as long as you address the valves and do the headgasket and all of the associated clening that happens with that job. the KBD header is a good one and costs less than the TRD, but used TRD headers aren't a bad deal either. if you are going to use more than the HKS pulley, better invest in some sort of fueling management. at least an SAFC, although many MkI owners are going towards the gruntbox. i also have an SAFC for sale if you are interested. high 13's are looking more like SC14 with some other somewhat radical mods.
yeah I'd choose to keep it too. Save your money and if eventually, after you have enough saved up, you still want a sw20, then go for it. There are more important things for your money to go torwards rather than a car, trust me, i spend all my money on cars and there are other things I would love to do, but can't because of that.
Geek, you know I was kidding. I know you have A game, I can sense it in others. It's dalocalboy from mr2oc too.

I'm just basically looking for a really fun car. When i can say that I took off almost two seconds off my quarter mile time thats what its all about. Having something that can corner and look good cruising down the street. I've already beat majority of the cars that pull up next to me.
The nice thing about the GZE is that more power is just a pulley away.
You can get yourself 30-40hp just by popping on a pulley.
That may not sound like alot, but considering the stock motor only makes ~140 thats ~20-30% more power. Thats pretty substantial.
And pulleys are pretty cheap compared to other mods that give the same power.
