ToyoTechGeek,(or anybody else) I recently have a new question for you. My 3rd gear for awhile now has given out on me. When I put it in it just makes a grinding sound. Today when I was driving to a friends house I decided to make a quick lane change. So I drop it in second and get on it and since I don't have a third gear I put it straight into fourth. When I shift into fourth at high rpm's it to started to grind and now fourth gear is out. So now i'm thinking how am I going to get to work with only a first, second, and fifth gear. On my way back from my friends house I realized that my third gear works now and the only bad gear is fourth. It seems like it just switched or something. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I appreciate you reading this and hope to hear from anybody soon. Thanks

I have that same problem! My 3rd gear was bad i forced my car into 4th (double pumped clutch) and now my 4th gear is stuck and my 3rd gear works but still stays stuck. I find myself going from 2nd to 5th now because ii'm afraid 3rd and 4th will stick leaving me on the side of the road. If u find a solution let me know

Great keep me posted. I myself however did the same thing. I ended up changing my tranny fluid to Red Line Shock Proof Gear oil. The heavy duty one. It took the tension off 2nd gear and made that smooth but still stuck in 3rd and 4th.

I have decided to get a new transmission. This sunday me and a friend of mine are going to our local pick and pull. I found a N/A mr2 with the engine and tranny so hopefully the N/A transmission will bolt up to my SC Mr2. My mechanic said he'll do the transplant all for around $150.00. He is really cheap so I think I'll save the headaches and let him do it. I'll definetely keep you posted on how it goes. Lets just hope that the N/A tranny will hold up to the extra power.

Good luck. I myself ended up taking the same route I went out and bought a JDM Tranny for my sw20. Hopefully everything goes well. Its due for transplant in a week or two.
