new project! toda 4ag build for mr2

So im starting a new project. i just aquired a 4age out of an 86 Corolla. My plan is to build the motor up with all toda parts to make it a n/a high rev monster. after the motor is built a will find a first gen mr2 and build as my next track car. does any one know how high you can wind the stock bottom end of a 4age. im shooting for 11000 to 12000 rpm and im wondering if i can use the stock bottom end reilably. i will rebuild the bottom end no matter what i just dont know if im giong to use toda parts or the stock internals. thanks

well, the formula atlantic engines are basically a 4AG-E. it just depends on the team and their configuration(s). you'll need to balance down to the gram. you will probably want to be double sprung and have your valve guides addressed and possibly your valve seats. you might get the rotating assembly lightened even. i would have an experienced engine builder blueprint your bottom end. you probably want to find an oil squirter block for oiling help in sustaining high revs. you are going to have to get some things (such as the whole front timing cover assembly) and all of the AW11 engine mounts.

oh and if you plan on using just a stock fueling system, good luck! DCOE Webers are great for fueling and sustaining high revs.

if you get a 4age 16valve reving that high, i dont think it will be too reliable, i've heard that the atlantic is kinda hard to maintain or something, and i think it revs around what you want. i don't own a atlantic, but all the kool peeps say you would end up having to rebuild the 4age to keep it running good. i haven't looked up it's specs in a while, so if anyone wants to correct me, feel free.

the only question i had was if the rotating assembly could handle the high rpms for any period of time. the toyota atlantic motors are 4age motors that use factory internals, and my friend had an 88 mr2 with trd valve springs and would rev it to 11000 all the time with 160000 and no problems. so i asume so but i was just curious if anyone has built a 4age all motor for a race motor with a high rev limit

its not a good idea to spend money on a blue-top
if you want it to hold up to 11k rpm, a jdm smallport 4ag would be better
it has stronger interior
