2nd Generation replace clock in dash with 1/4 din unit?

In this case , I'm contemplating replaceing the factory clock with a turbo timer (HKS). Has anyone tried this? Seems like it would make sense, the power wires are already there also.

I've seen it done before. there was a picture of it floating around somewhere. Just can't remember where right now.

It's not a perfect fit, but it's close enough that a little dremeling will do the job.

It will fit, but the shape is not ideal.
The hole for the clock has rounded edges so a rectangular 1/4-din unit will have space around it.
