theoretically you can lose performance, however..... imagine the JDM counterengine w/o an EGR system....... same size TB...... now, with an EGR system, you have that throttle body plus an additional 1/2" or so of extra air able to come in.....

that being said, i don't have EGR systems on either of my cars

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. EGR valve.
Recylces unburned hydrocarbons and places nitrous and nitric oxides into the mixture for burning.
This will theoretically give you:
1) Slightly improved mileage through better combustion efficiency.
1a) Better emissions since all that bad stuff is being put back into the cylinder for reprocessing (This is the biggest reason for the existance of this device).
2) Slightly higher effective octane rating by introducing octane rating enhancing nitrogen oxides into the mixture.
3) (very) Slightly decreased Int/Ex flowrate due to routing through the valve.

It's a good idea to enter acronyms into google and spend a few minutes reading so that you know what you're talking about instead of throwing around abreviations without knowing what they mean.
Sorry if I sound harsh, it just irritates me when I hear people talking about cars like they just threw a bunch of scrabble tiles onto the ground just and read them off to sound like they are some kind of master auto tech and yet they really dont know jack.

But hey... at least you admitted that you don't know what it is =P

Now that you know what it does (as I described at the top of my post) you can gauge for yourself whether or not it's a good idea to block it off.

ya don't need it and it looks better when all that crap is taken off and is out of the way. It gets old and goes bad eventually with deposit build up of crap.

EGR Blockoff wont make that big of a difference if any. The best part is that your engine doesn't look so clusterfucked. The JDM engines don't have any EGR... and they have 25 more hp... but I dont think much, if any is attributed to the EGR being gone. Most of it has to do with the ECU, turbo and internals depending on what generation you are looking at.

If you'll read my post you'll notice I said "Sorry if I sound harsh" and tehn went on to infer that I wasn't insulting you, just making a point.

So why don't you take your n00b self the hell out of my face.
From now on I won't be a nice guy and help you out.
Ill just give you the finger like you gave me.

Well you shouldnt little things like that bother you that much and if it does you have some serious issues Pal. I thank you for the info. But when someone is asking a serious question and just trying to learn a little more about their car think twice before shit starts coming out of your mouth.

C'mon guys.... keep it civil. We have enough bitching and moaning in other parts of the forum.... we don't need to bring it here. Calm down before this gets . We are all here because we like our deuces... lets keep it at that. If you have a personal argument take it to PM... that's what they are there for.

i have no idea if this is true, but if you disable it, don't some people complain of a almost "bad" smell?
