Is this a good deal?

1991 Toyota MR2 N/A 95,000 Miles. Black on Grey Cloth. 5spd Manual Transmission.

A close family mechanic friend of mine is willing to sell it to me for 3,500. He is very anal-retentive about his cars, so needless to say it's in excellent condition. He doesn't even drive it much. The paint is glossy and the interior is clean, no rips or tears or smells. It is bone stock and so clean you can eat off the engine. Has factory rims, etc. Tires are good, basically... absolutely no mechanical problems. It's a 2 owner car and he's put the majority of the mileage on it. Should I get it?

I've read posts on here where people have bought the 91 mr2 for less, but I like the fact that I can trace the maintenance of this car to my friend.

i would say its a good deal because the car is in mint condition, u know where it came from, so u dont have to treat it like its been everywhere, and thats low miles for a 91, i bought my mr2 for 3200, and the guy i bought it from was anal rententive as well. buying car from anal renetive people who have all the reciets is always a good idea in my opinion, even if its gonna cost u about 200-300 more bucks. the blue book value of the 91 na mr2 is 3200 if its mint.

If the car is really in that good shape, that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
If the KBB value is 3200, try to get him down to that, just for fun.
It's close enough to 3500 that it's a reasonable request.

Well, since he is an anal retentice person who has more than a dozen cars and a handful of motorcycles, he is in no rush to sell the car, I actually asked him to sell it to me. His initial asking price was 4200, but he's my girlfriend's mom's best buddy, so we settled on 3500.

I agree. That's a steal for an MR2 with that low mileage and in such great shape! Buy it before somebody else does!
