3S-GTE tranny

Sorry about this nooB question. I used to drive a 2000 celica GTS and with that car you couldnt make mare than 250 whp safley on the transmission. I am about to pick up a MKII MR2 soon because I want something RWD and turbo. I was just wondering how much power The 3S-GTE transmission could hold before running into problems. Thanks

There are guys pushing over 600 rwhp on the OEM 3SGTE tranny.
The 93+ tannies are better than the 91/92s.
I'm at 440 rwhp on a stock tranny.

We have more issues with axles.

Lots

There are people making 600 ft/lbs on that transmission with no problems. The weak link is the axels/cv joints. Since the car has massive ammounts of grip on launch the cage on the CV's tends to die quickley around 350 ft/lbs Contact ATS for an upgraded set once you break yours.

I am personally planning on running just over 500 ft/lbs through my turbo transmission. Of course I will be installing the solara final drive and some custom CV's soon. Im not so worried about the transmission as I am hubs, and motor mounts

QuadCam, why do you want the Solora final drive? ... lower RPM cruising at the expense of accel?

I actually did not break the LSD. I am stil lusing it
I broke the inner-stub of the axle. It twisted like a cnady cane stripe and shattered in the middle:

MAN!!!

I have never seen one break there before. Do you think it may have been a defective/flawed unit?

I've seen pics of an MR2 in Japan that did the same thing.

I know ATS will probably hook you up. If they cant though, let me know. Ill put you in touch with some people who can help you out.

Im still suprised it broke like that. Im convinced it was a defect in the casting. Im glad you got it fixed though.
