sorry, you still didn't understand... if an engine has both wear on rings and valves. and they both leak... or allow leakage of oil and gasses... it is not a good idea to do only a valve job.. and not do the rings.... as that will cause substanial oil pumping past the rings,, as the rings would be a very weak spot in the seal of the combustion chamber...
If you don't believe me, fine...
just gotta stop this here because I went beyond just his tapping noise, into more work..
