They don't have to be metal for the powder to stick. Plastic intakes are powder coated all the time. Plastic emblems don't stand up to the heat of powder coating though.

Epsilon's ride has the performance/racing theme going on. That's why bronze/gold rims look great on his car. Without that theme, it wouldn't look right.
