Because filter requirements are lot easier to deal with, you have one stock panel, instead of some whacky idea. Leaving them totally open is very stupid and will lead to premature engine wear. We use socks on ITB'd race cars, because you aint gonna win a race if you have a stone fly in and break your engine.
also the AFM isnt a restriction like people think and I think toyota thought something else when they designed the ITB's rather than having kids run open ITB's.
With the price difference of ST and BT atleast over here, I could get wisecos and lightweight connecting rods and alot of other nice stuff to the silvertop... :P
