The Owner's manual is gospel and it is up to the sales personel to inform owners to be sure to press the lock button on the tail gate if you open it and want all the doors locked after you close it.

Scenerio 1: go to the mall Xmas shopping. Lock the car and load up your Visa card. Come back to the HL. Open the tail gate, Close it. Go back for round 2.

Oops..all the doors are unlocked because your sales person did not inform you about the lock button on the tail gate and point to the owners manual section that states "The damn door doesn't relock after you open it and you need to pay attention and press the lock button!!!!" or something like that
