Can I weld the frame of a late 80's early 90's p/u?

I have a friend who has a late 80's early 90's 2wd pickup. It seems to have the boxed frame. He wants me to attach a bumper to his frame, but I am worried about welding it. Is this frame a hydroformed frame and cannot be welded, or can I bolt and weld it?

frames of this vintage were NOT hydro formed .. you can absolutly weld the frame , and asl long as you have the skills , you'll have NO issues !!
