22re noise from engine

hi my truck just start doing a ticking noise comming from the front of the engine the noise is very noticeble a idle the truck got 300 000 km maybe the timing chain ? sould i stop driving it ? what is the first thing to do ?

An easy way to check the TC is to pull the valve cover. The TC is right up front, grab it and pull, the slack should be minimal. Also grab a flashlight and look down at the guides on each side, they break.
The TC needs replacing every 100K or so miles .

i agree with fourwd1 it sounds like it could be a TC and if it turns out to be that I would go with a geared TC the next time and you won't have to worry about that problem again
