1994 toyota pickup deal???

Hey guys, i am thinking about buying a used 1994 toyota pickup for my son in high school. It is 4x4, 5-speed mannual, has ac/heat, and is an ext. cab. It is also equiped with a 4inch lift and 32' muddin tires, a brush guard, tool boxs, and good sound system. The condition of the truck is top quality with a great paint job and interior!! Seems to me like a SUPER good deal at just about $3000. Give me some opinions on the toyota pickup, 22re engine, and the dependablity of the truck. Would this make a good first car/truck for my son. Thanks please reply!!

whats going on, sounds reall good, how many miles and did the person take care of when he or she had it? i have a 94"4x4 stick truck no cab. the only thing i have done is put on 31.5 tires and new rock crawler rims.can't going any bigger with out lifting it. ive taking this truck threw 18inches of snow, pulled out a F150 and a dodge pickup out of the mud. i rolled my truck on its side and upside down in mud.. its a great truck just maintain the oil and you will be okay. the 22re motors last,my truck is a everyday driver and drives great..does have rust issues in the bumper and under body. bumpers are cheap just put a new one on..id love to take that truck for 3G's

that is a smoking deal!!!

i got my 89 xtra cab last year. 128,000miles in it. paid $4,500.00 for it and that was by far the best deal around.

Check the frame thoroughly for rust. It's not always visible until you start poking around.

Yeah, make sure the owner is cool with it, then start smackin the frame. Try to find any soft spots (check the rear tube brace, they like to rust out in the middle).

I'd be getting my ass over there with some cash immediately, because it won't last (if it's even still available now). The rust issue isn't as bad on 89 and newer as it was on 88 and before (especially if originally a SC truck), so bring a flashlight and check the frame out t-o-n-i-g-h-t. Ask if they've done the timing chain yet (at 120K it is near due), and if not, try to use this and flash them $2600 cash, but if the frame's good, be prepared to pay the $3000.

Again, you don't have much time to buy this, even if it's an unadvertised deal with an acquaintance...if they have talked to you about it, they've talked to others as well. Don't get shut out!

Run the VIN thru a dealer and see if the head gasket or idler arm TSB'S hav been done.
And check the frame for rust.

22re so no headgasket recall. But I would ask if the timing chain has been replaced. Thats a fairly big job, would run you a couple grand in a shop.
