theres a harness the pump sits on so u shouldnt need another one of those if its still working. plus if its your hose you shouldn't even need to pull the pump out of the tank. just drop the tank and if you can cut the hose back and extend it back with a coupling, fuel line hose clamps and more hose. which u can get from a local auto parts store. if its the harness assembly you'll need to pull the pump and find the harness. I checked my local junk yards and couldn't find the right one and ended up finding someone on craigslist who was parting out there pickup.

So to answer your question yes you can safely unhook everything from the pump without having to buy a new one.

If you mean where the hard (metal) line comes out and the rubber hose connects, leaking due to rust there is common. And replacing the pickup assy is the solution.
